Lexington, Virginia in the 1870's
home of Washington and Lee University
from a 16x20 glass plate negative
that I contact-printed as a student
on a sheet of 11x14 paper
It was taken by Michael Miley
who also made many photographs
of Gen. Robert E. Lee after the War
when Lee was President of Washington College
Miley used a wet-plate glass negative process
which allowed him to make many contact prints
much like I did
A pretty good, 4.9MB JPG is available
here
and the full, 89 MB, 16000x13000 TIF is
